Consultation has concluded

The South Vedder Neighbourhood Plan has now been completed and forms a part of Schedule D-Neighbourhood Plans in the City of Chilliwack’s 2040 Official Community Plan (OCP), serving as a guide for future decision making regarding changes in land use. See the plan and learn more here.

Background:

The City’s 2040 Official Community Plan (OCP), updated in 2014, provides a high-levelMap of South Vedder Neighbourhood Plan area vision for how Chilliwack should grow and develop over time. For the South Vedder area, the OCP envisions this area as a vibrant and pedestrian-friendly commercial and residential neighbourhood. To ensure this vision is realized, and in response to increased development enquiries for this area, the City is developing a neighbourhood plan for the South Vedder area. The South Vedder area is located east of Vedder Road, and directly below the hillside of Promontory.

This neighbourhood plan will build on the City’s OCP and help clarify expectations for new development as it occurs in this area. The neighbourhood plan will consider elements such as:

  • land use;
  • building and design; and,
  • City infrastructure improvements.
