Think about increasing the already insane amount of traffic and congestion!

Even though my feeling is that the City will do what they want to do regardless of the current residents of that neighbourhood's input. That said, the final decision shouldn't be based on how much more in taxes this could potentially go into the City's coffre but how the already insanely congested traffic situation there is on Vedder Rd. Even with the widening of Vedder Rd., the Vedder bridge and runabout is still only one lane both ways. Pretty much every day, the traffic is crawling, often starting at Promotory Rd all the way to the bridge, and that's both ways. As a resident of the area that is considered for redevelopment, I often have to stay home as it is crazy trying to get onto Vedder unless I plan an extra half hour to wherever I need to go. How will a series of 3-4 story commercial & residential buildings will make this area attractive to any new buyers? To increase the density of the already populated south end of Vedder Rd is not a good move in my opinion, unless some serious considerations is made to keep some single houses and/or the mobile homes in the trailer park, where most residents are either pensioners or low income folks. There still could be some commercial development that can be considered but only on the frontage of Vedder Rd. Esthetically speaking, there could be some benefit at having some of the current buildings having a face lift of just have new buildings all together.
