Why is the City of Chilliwack engaging online?

Public engagement usually involves attending an open house, public meeting, or writing a letter to Council. In an effort to reach more of our community, the City of Chilliwack is using this site to give residents the opportunity to learn about projects and provide feedback on their own time.


Who do I contact if I have feedback on Engage Chilliwack?

Engage Chilliwack is coordinated by the City of Chilliwack’s Communications team. If you have any questions, please contact engage@chilliwack.com.

If you have any project-specific questions, please contact the project manager. Look for contact details under ‘Who’s listening’ on the project page.


How do I register?

Register for Engage Chilliwack by clicking on the "Sign In" button or the “Register” button in the top right of any page, then:

  • Choose a username and password
  • Complete a few questions about you
  • You will receive an email to validate your email address
  • Return to the website and click the "Sign In" button

Your comments will appear under your username and you can comment anonymously through a username of your choice.


Why do I have to register to make comments?

Participants who register become part of our online community. They will be able to get involved in multiple projects and receive updates to stay informed.  Participants can choose their username and control what and when they contribute. This process also helps to minimize the chance of an engagement opportunity being unfairly manipulated.


How is my information collected and used?

Personal information is collected for the administration of City of Chilliwack programs and services only, as authorized under Section 26 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The City of Chilliwack does not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than that for which it is collected or a use consistent with that purpose, or with the consent of the individual whom the information is about, or otherwise in accordance with law. The City of Chilliwack retains personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes of the specified program or service and as required by law. How is Engage Chilliwack moderated?

Submitted content that can be seen by other website users is moderated 24 hours a day 7 days a week for inappropriate language, comments that disrespect other participants and for comments that are off topic.

Moderation is carried out by Bang the Table for the City of Chilliwack. Moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed from the site immediately and the person who posted the comment is advised by email.
